Biographie
-
Trained by Lenoir, for whom he worked as a journeyman, Bellet accompanied Delambre as technician in charge of Lenoir’s instruments during his triangulation campaign. In the course of this he virtually became another assistant (1). As an independent instrument-maker he produced a range of surveying and geodetic instruments similar to those of Lenoir including Borda circles, compasses and inclinometers. One of his geodetic circles was sent to Rome by Lalande in 1806 (2).
