Biographie
The Société des Ateliers Vaucanson was founded shortly before it was constituted in 1914 as a limited company (Société anonyme) for the making of precision mechanical and electric devices. It succeeded (absorbed) the business of Lamazière et Bünzli, makers of the speed register for locomotives invented by Eugène Flaman (1842-1935), early Maltese-cross cinema projectors, calculating machines, automobile magnetos, and electric clocks. The firjm augmented the Vaucanson Company's capacity bby two factories, one in Paris, the other in the region, at Blesdal, between St Nicolas d'Aliermont and Saint-Aubin-le-Cerf. The latter occupied the building of a late 18th century horological school. From 1956 onwards the telephone makers Ericson became majority shareholders and the production of telephones was begun. In 1976 a controlling interest in the firm was acquired by Thomsaon-CSF (1)
