An optician by origin, who produced a wide range of mathematical and marine instruments and described himself as 'constructeur d'instruments de précision'. He realised the 'correcteur de route et de relèvement' invented by the captain F. L. Roux, of which just over thirty-six had been made by 1875 (1). Other instruments known by him are an altimetric barometer, a 3inch telescope on a tripod stand, an artificial horizon, a graphometer, a theodolite, a sextant, a surveying compass,and a 3ft telescope on a tripod stand (2). A dip circle by him was supplied to Marseilles Observatory (3).
