Signature on a barometer, no 255, marked 'Marine Impériale'.1 Sextants, Fortin mountain barometer. At the 1839 exhibition he showed a balance, an air pump, a planimeter developed in collaboration with Oppikoffer, and barometers, all of which were highly praised but with the comment 'M. Ernst is a very skilful artist; his production has not a very great distribution'.2
