Biographie
After taking orders, Guyoux was appointed vicar of Montmerie sur Saône (14 August 1821) ; curé of Lurcy (1 October 1823); and Curé of Montmerie sur Saône (3 May 1834) where he remained for the rest of his life. Both parishes are situated to the west of Dombes and of Bourg-en-Bresse. In about 1827, he developed his mean-time dial, basing it on the dial with an alidade in the equatorial plane described and illustrated by Christopher Clavius in a publication of 1581. For his dial, which shows both solar time and local mean time, Guyoux received two awards. Some sixteen examples of the dial are known with dates ranging from 1834 to 1865.1
