Biographie
The illegitimate son of Jeanne Henriette Josephine Golaz, he founded his business in 1830. On 11 November 1837 he married Louise Madeleine Guérin (1819-1874) by whom he had five children.He specialised in apparatus for the physical, chemical and meteorological sciences, and instruments for the testing and manufacture of explosives. He was the maker of the apparatus for Reynault's studies on the compression and dilatation of gases, on density and on specific heat. Her also supplied apparatus, particularly calorimeters for Bertholet's thermochemical studies. An example of Alluard's hyrgometrical outfit (invented 1877) by him is known,1 and he also worked with such scientists as St Clair Deville, Pasteur, Troost, Violle and Wertheim He was a member of the Société Française de Physique in 1878. In the International fairs that punctuated the 19th century he received awards between 1855 and 1906, some of them for the original instruements developed by the company which supplied instruments to twenty three different countries.
