Biographie
trained in Geneva before working for Frédéric Huette (qv) whose successor he was. Opticien de la Marine he also took over from Huette responsability for the meteorological observations at the Observatoire astronomique de la Marine from 1870 to 1887. In 1861 he showed barometers, compasses, a telescope specially designed for comet-hunting, and binoculars at the Exposition Nationale, Nantes.1 An horizontal thermometer on slate and a right-angled, under-arm thermometer by him are also known.2
