The company BBT Krauss was formed in 1907 with the amalgamation of BBT (qv) and E. Krauss (qv). Production centred on a wide range of optical devices, in particular microscopes, hand-magnifiers, microtomes, military optical devices, surgical lighting, air and sea beacon lights. During the 1960s the Vion company (qv), was purchased, only for the entire group to be taken over by CIT Alcatel to form their military equipment, optical and laser telescopes branch. It was closed down in 1982.
