After being apprenticed to Gambey (qv), 1839-44), he worked with his father succeedi,g to his business in 1855. Gold medal 1867 exhibition, Paris. In the 1876 Philadelphia exhibition he showed a wide range of precision balances with specialist functions and obtained two medals. Although he went blind in 1876 he continued to work. He showed a chronograph for ballistic measurements and an automatic balance at the 1881 International Electricity Exhibtion (1). A maker of goniometers, in 1893 he sold his business to Pillon - Velter (qv). In the 1870s he was balance-maker to the Commission des Monnaies.
