In June 1902 he founded a business ‘for the construction of precision instruments and especially for radio-telegraphic equipement’1. Despite taking out several patents in France, Germany, Belgium and Great Britain, he was sued by Pellin (qv) for counterfeiting his apparatus in 1911. Between 1902 and 1914 he won a number of medals local, national and international exhibitions and was appointed an officier of the Académie in 1909. A subsidiary mark was 'Louis Ancel Laboratoire ELLA' .
