Biographie

Known by a money balance, and a patented screw-focussing pocket telescope, on a surviving example of this, Bodson described himself as optician to the Duke of Orléans. The instrument must therefore date from between 1830 and 1842 (1). He is likely to be the 'Bodson le jeune' listed as a member of the Conseil Général de la Commune, section Pont Neuf in a document of 1790/91 and the son or the younger brother of Bodson maker of a barometer with mercury reservoir in 1768. Although not a balance-maker he included weights and balances in his stock.
