Biographie
An engraver of lettering specialised in geographical and topographical work who also engraved globes, Lattré held the positions of 'graveur ordinaire du Roi et du M. le Duc d'Orléans et de la Ville'. In 1771 he published Lalande's 8-inch celestial globe. He worked in close collaboration with Rigobert Bonne and his stock was eventually purchased by Charles Delamarche (1). According to his trade card of 1760 his wife worked with him and it was she who, with Mme Tardieu, engraved Mme Lepaute's map of the eclipse of the Sun in 1762 (2). Among his products were hand-held fire-screens carrying engraved maps. His Atlas Moderne (1762) was produced in collaboration with J. Hérissart to accompany Nicolle de la Croix', 'Géographie moderne', and to rival Vaugondy's 'Nouvel atlas portatif'.
