Biographie
Divided linear measures for the new metric system in years I and IV of the Republic [1792/3 & 1795/6].In year one he delivered 1200 for which he was paid 30 francs. In year IV he delivered 3500 for which he was paid 25 francs the hundred although he had asked for 50 francs (1). Thereafter he not only divided the rules but also set them with nails supplied by the Agence Temporaire des Poids e Mesures (2). From the year VIII (1799-1800) he was one of the group of makers housed in a building allocated to the Ministry of the Interior, l'Hôtel de Pologne in the Marais, and after the year X (1801/2) in the Hôtel de Mortagne and the College des Grassins. He used a machine which was able to divide and standardize at the same time for which he received an honorouble mention in the 1806 exhibition. A comparator that he made for the 'Bureau des Prototypes' read to one 200th of a millimeter. He also made volume measures (3).
