Biographie
The eldest son and successor of Antoine Assier-Perricat (qv) in 1806, he also succeeded to the business of Betalli (qv) in partnership with his widow although it is unclear at what date after 1799 this occurred. In 1791 he described himself as 'Membre de la Société du Point Centrale des Arts'. His output was similar to that of his father, with some of whose petitions to the government he was associated (1), and included all kinds of barometers, thermometers, areometers, alcoholometers and other glass apparatus for physics and chemistry. Like his father he made a number of minor innovations and took over the making of Guyton de Morveau's coin-balance from Betally. According to Thomas Bugge he displayed his skill in glass-blowing every evening in the Palais Royal. He works very well, but his prices are higher than Betalli's' (2). Assier Perricat the younger exhibited in the 1806 exhibition. In 1814 he addressed two petitioning letters to Louis XVIII requesting honorific status similar to that offered by the 1780 brevet enjoyed by his father and enclosing a list of his inventions. Needs support since he has to support both his 88 year old mother and his 57 year old sister who had lost all their fortune during the Revolution. The reply of 27 June 1814 was negative since the state had no funds for such purposes.
