succeeded by purchase to the optical business, first of Arthur Chevalier in 1874, and then to that of l’Ingénieur Chevallier in 1879 following the death of Ducray. In 1921 the two names were combined into the mark 'Chevallier & l'Ingénieur Chevallier' but in 1924 the ailing George Avizard sold the house of Bourgeois directed by his son-in-law, Lucien Boucart. Under the new name of 'Bourgeois & l'Ingénieur Chevallier' new premises were eventually found in the rue des Pyramides where the business remains until today, the property since 1977 of the optician Golendorff (1).
