Biographie
Bariquand founded his business in 1860, primarily concerned. with the making of sewing machines. His interest in precision work. led him to an association with Marre to develope metrological instruments. At the Bureau International des poids et mesures, they made additional parts for the 'comparateur universel' which, made by Starke & Kammerer in Vienna, had been delivered on 4 November 1882. They also made the small 'comparateur' designed by Benoît and Guillaume (1). Comparateurs, micrometers, and a 4 meter long measuring bench were shown at the 1900 exhihibition. The partnership continued into the 20th century, perhaps on a more formal basis, and standard meters alongside other precision mechanical products continued to be made into the 1930s. In 1949 the firm was. absorbed by Brandt SA only to be ceded shortly afterwards to become the lynch pin of Logobax, now part of an English group.
