The son of Martin Bellanger the elder, goldsmith in Blois and Suzanne Boucher, he was the brother of Moïse Bellanger the younger (born 1606) a clockmaker who is mentioned in 1642 but thereafter seems to have moved to Paris. Pierre Bellanger followed his father’s trade of goldsmith and was married 8 February 1637 with Renée, daughter of the clock-maker Simon Gribelin(1 ). In 1656 and 1658 he signed small horizontal sun-dials at Blois one being cast in pewter, the other in lead. As their christian names suggest all three men were protestants.
