Biographie

A specialist in the making of physics apparatus especially thermometers and barometers, Betalli also made and retailed a coin-balance invented by Guyon de Morveau (1). Of him Thomas Bugge noted in the journal of his 1798/99 visit to Paris that 'Amongst glassworkers, Betalli is outstanding' (2). He was succeeded by Assier Perricat fils who entered into partnership with his widow (3). A two cylinder table air pump is preserved in Florence (4).
