Biographie
-
The sixth child of Nicolas Bion (qv), he became free of the Founders' Corporation (probably by patrimony) in 1717 and was juré from 1733 to 1735. He had obtained the title 'Ingénieur du Roi' before 1722. In the year that he was granted his freedom he married the daughter of Delure (qv) and presumably traded independently of his father a part of whose stock he purchased in 1731. In 1736, he acquired the stock of his father-in-law as he had that remaining with his own father in 1733. In 1739 and again in 1751 he re-published the latter's book on the globes, as he did also his general treatise of instruments in 1752. The business may have been continued by his wife until 1786, perhaps in association with Pierre Gourdin who used the same trade sign from 1779 onwards.1
