Biographie

After Louis-Clémence Breguet abandoned horology in 1870, when he sold the watch-making business to his works manager Edward Brown, he continued manufacture of all that related to electricity. After a family re-arrangement of the business in 1881 the name of 'Maison Breguet SA' was adopted. Under the impulsion of Antoine Breguet numerous instruments were shown at the exhibition of the same year, including a rheostatic machine of Planté's design, electrostatic condensors, magneto and dynamo machines of various types (Gramme and others), electrical measuring instruments, a wide range of batteries, cables, conductors and insulators, medical apparatus, electro-magnets, registering devices, chronographs, registering dynometers and even electrical horology.1 in later years the company diversified into turbines, telephones, and electric pumps.
