Biographie

The eldest son and successor to P-H Caseaux (qv) was excused from military service in Ventose An VII [spring 1799] in view of his indispensability to the continuation of the optical manufacture that he directed, the only one in the Republic. A few months later he was selected to direct an arms manufacture that was to be set up in Morez. Thereafter he is found in a variety of occupations and seems to have abandoned optical work soon after 1800.1
