Biographie
A marchand-miroitier, the second son of Guillaume I Mènard, he became a free master before 1667. His apprentices were Christophe Lebreton, 1673; Jean Nicoin,1678; Michel Quitré, July 1682; Jaccques Joseph Thieffray, 1690. In October 1677 he had married Marie Prudent, their first son, Louis I, being born on 26 August 1681, their second Guillaume III, on 8 April 1685. His shop stock as listed in his probabte inventory was fairly equally divided between optical and mirro/glass work, but only 11% in value related precision optics (1).
