In 1671 he married Anne Baignoux who was a protestant as in 1685 she, and their four children abjured the reformed confession.2 In association with his sons he established a commerce in 'horology, precious stones, mirrors, porcelain, bronzes and jewelry'. In 1688, according to his son Pierre he developed an equation clock, the earliest known mentioned in France. He died well-off with an estate of 174,000 livres. Charles le Bon and Julien le Roy were his pupils and perhaps also his workmen.3
