Biographie
Dijon, who is otherwise little known, was a competitor for the title of Ingénieur de l'Académie' following the death of Canivet in 1774. This was to be discerned by a competition in which the contestants were to produce a 3ft radius quadrant, the costs of which would be covered by a prize of 2400 livres awarded to the succesful maker. Postponed in 1779, half the prize was awarded to Megnié in 1779, the other half to Dijon in 1781. The title however seems not to have been awarded to either of them (1).
Notes biographiques
