Biographie
A marchand-miroitier whose wife, Marianne Paris presumably, a member of the Paris family of opticians (qv), continued his business after his death (1). It is presumably he, described as ‘Marie fils’ who became a ‘repondans’ of the Société des Arts in 1730. A telescope, dated 1747, is similarly signed. In 1736 he supplied objective lenses to the Paris Observatory (2). Two box microscopes however are signed simply 'Marie à Paris'. (3)
