La Société Alasacienne de Constructions Mécaniques et de Téléphonie became Alcatel 31 décember 1971, following its amalgamation the previous year with the Compagnie Industrielle des Télecommunication CIT. It was at this time that it took over the Etablissements s Ch. BEAUDOUIN, the making of vacuum instruments by the two companies being complementary. The. Annecy factory of Alcatel had indeed been producing a a wide range of vacuum instruments since the 1950s, directed by Mr Maurice, a former pupil of the ESPCI.
