- was educated at the Ecole des Arts et Métiers at Chalons-sur-Marne and apprenticed to Lenoir (qv) with a state scholarship 17 April 1807.1 In August 1811 he was appointed head of the compass workshop at Anvers by the Minister of the Marine.
