Apprenticed to J.F. Maulevant in the Founders' Corporation 30 June 1722 (1) Duhamel may not have taken his freedom until 2 July 1754 unless this be another maker of the same name,;perhaps his son. One or other of them was noted in 1772 for 'mathematical instruments with gold and silver decoration' (2). Two Butterfield dials and a half foot rule among other instrfjments by him are known (3).
