Biographie

Known for two theodolites in wood1 which have been variously dated to the 17th century (Webster) and the 18th century (CNAM Catalogue), but most probably are 19th century confections made for the emergent market in early mathematical instruments.

Notes biographiques
-
1 Webster & Webster 60 citing Roussel coll lot 107; CNAM 14363. The latter instrument was presented in 1911 by M & Mme Augustin Rey, that is in the same year as the Roussel sale. The description in the Roussel catalogue corresponds exactly with the instrument in the CNAM, and the two instruments are likely to be the same.
