Biographie
-
The son of Paul Garnier, whose business he continued. One of the growing group of collectors of early horology in late 19th century Paris, he also acquired medieval ivories and Renaissance bronzes. He bequeathed fifty-six watches and three clocks to the Musée du Louvre and some other items (1).
He was succeeded by his nephew Blot-Garnier (1871-1938). This, which had a large workshop in the Rue Beudant, Paris, became a Société Anonyme in 1927, 20% of the shares remaining with Blot-Garnier, 40% with Lavigne and 40% with George Meyer. In 1938 the business was purchased by Léon Hatot.
