Mechanician, 'tourneur du Roi' as he described himself on a mechnical equinoctial dial (1); The. king in question was Stanislas Leszczynski, King of Poland whose court was established at Luneville. Gaspard inter alia made scientific instruments. One of his dials is dated 1753 (2).
