Biographie

There were several clock and watchmakers by the name of Hoyez in the région Arras, Amiens, and Cambrai during the 18th century of whom two perished during the Revolution : Armand Hoyez, born in Cambrai in 1733, guillotined 3 floréal An II (22 April 1794), and Antoine Joseph Hoyez, Arras, condemned to death in the year IV (1796). An Antoine Joseph Hoyez, clockmaker married in Amiens 1722. Other Hoyez appear in the l’Almanach de Commerce pour 1809, 1811 and 1814. At least two mechanical equinoctial dials of high sophistication (1), and a watch are known (2).
