Formed c. 1888 as successor to Paul Rousseau's Société de Fabrication de Produits Chimique (ancienne Maison Rousseau), the company produced, or retailed, a complete range of laboratory apparatus and materials such as a Curie electrometer supplied to the Politecnico, Turin (1). They were the main manufacturers of Curie's 'Quartz piezo-électrique measurer from 1890 onwards and of his apériodique balance (2). In 1890 the new, company directed by Ernest Vlasto (qv), was attacked by Paul Rouseau for fraudulent use of the medals awarded to to his earlier companies by the Société Centrale. Vlasto was condemned on only one of the three charges brought (3).
