Biographie

was in partnership with his brother Jules from 1876 until 1891. After their separation he opened in association with his third brother Albert 'Le Comptoir photographique' where he commercialised among other things an apparatus of Jules Carpentier, his father's mamjor competitor. Attacked by his brother Jules for unfair trading, he was cndemned to a fine of 84,000 francs. Subsequentlyn with Léon Gaumont (1863-1946), he founded the Gaumont-Photo-Cinema Company which was to have a notable future.1
