In 1830 was in partnership with Marin, publishing with him a terrestrial globe signed 'Globe terrestre dressé par L. Spies, d'après l'invention de A. Weinling & Cie 1830. A Strasbourg chez Marin & Schmidt. Lith de Simon ... Strasbourg'.1 By 1833 however he was apparently on his own when he published an inflatable 'globe aérophyse', also designed by Weinling, on which a report was made by the Société de Géographie in the same year.2 A column barometer by him is also known.3
