Biographie
-
The eldest son of Louis Fois known as 'Larose'. He was trained first by his father and then in the workshop of Lenoir, Paris. (1) He made the full range of surveying and geodetic instruments, being the main supplier of such to the communes of his department, but. also produced weights and measures a demi litre by him being known. (2) In 1812 he made an instrument for pulverising gall and bladder stones at the request of the doctor Fournier de Lempdas who had invented it and rapidly became embroiled in a priority dispute about it. (3)
