Biographie
Morin founded his business between 1878 and 1880. Primacy among the wide range of products was accorded to the production of surveying and geodetic instruments.
In 1886 Morin formed a partnership with E. Gensse the name of the firm becoming H. Morin & Gensse. Described in catalogues of this period as 'Ateliers annexes' which suggests that the activity of the partnership was circumscribed, it had been dissolved by 1893 (1). By 1930, by which time a printing works had been added to the office equipment section, as 'Etablissements H. Morin' it was run by George Boyelle-Morin, issueof the 1909 promotion of Engineers from the Conservatoire des Arts et Métiers. He was president of the Chambre syndicale des Constructeurs d’Instruments de Précision in 1930. He was joined by polytechnician Paul Beau as joint director (? proprietor). Before 1964 when a patent was registered in the name of Morin, Secretan & Cie, the Morin company had purchased that of Secretan, by then owned by the Legros famiily at Cachan in which town Morin-Secretan later fused with Serpi. During this period the Opticompas was produced. for the marine.
