Biographie
The eldest son of François I Villette (qv), who having acquired the same pewtering skills as his father worked with him and his brother Jean François. The brothers completed the 47cm mirror begun by their father and this was displayed for sale in London in 1718 by which timeNicooas François had been appointed mechanician - optician to the Elector of Cologne, Prince-Bishop of Liège (1). Villette had migrated to LIège in 1691 where he opened an optical workshopproducing small mirrors, microscopes and other optical goods. The 47cm burning mirror was displayed in his workshop where it was examined y Peter the Great of Russia during his visit to LIège 27 June 1717. In 1725 Villette married Jeanne Marie Charlier, leaving her with two young boys, Françjois Laurent and Nicolas at the moment of his death.(2)
