Biographie
A company formed in 1922 by M. Powis from Tenbossche, then the representative in France for american company LEEDS and NORTHRUP making principally pyrometers Other agencies wre subsequently acquired as for Weston, in 1927 (electrical measuring apparatus),and Foxboro in 1935.
INthe 1950s MECI became a creator and maker of ’instruments under the direction of M. Faguet, notably of recording instruments, and physico-chemical analysers. Growth continued, the staff attained 100 and a factory was built at Issoudun (Indre).
1964 : with 1800 employees the company was launched on the Stock Exchange and foreign branches were opened.
After 1968 the business had financial difficulties and M. Larpent became director. But the difficulties increased until bankruptcy was declared in 1979 . Various transitory phases succeeded until in 1990 stability was found with the production of hydraulic counters.
